Wings
Owner's request (October 26, 2026): wings as a very rare item that grants the ability to fly.
Flying is the greatest possible travel power in an open world. If done badly, it shrinks the map, skips the hard places (20 §7), empties boats and airships and becomes a cause of motion sickness in VR. This document defines wings so that they are every player's dream and the game's status symbol, without breaking those other parts.
1. The idea in one sentence
Wings do not drop from monsters and cannot be bought: they are earned in a long journey through the hardest places in the world, and they grow with the player, from gliding to truly flying.
2. Fixed rules
- Not an NFT and not for sale. Wings give travel power, so they follow the rule of
08: power never comes from money or tokens. They are bound to the character who earned them, at the moment they are earned (they do not pass to another character or another account). - Not luck. No random drop of wings (it would be a target for bots and account buying). Rarity comes from the difficulty of the journey, not from a 0.01% chance.
- Never lost on death (project rule). They may be left wounded for a time (see §6).
- Earned once per character, and the journey is the same for everyone: the first on the server gets an exclusive title and visual mark, not better wings.
- Appearance can be cosmetic and NFT (§8), but only shows on those who already have wings. There are no "decorative wings" for sale: whoever has wings, earned them.
3. How they are earned: the Feather Journey
Lore: the ancients of Celéstia flew. The wings are a gift that the Mother Tree and the sky grant to those who prove courage in every corner of the world.
- The calling: on reaching the chapter's max level, the player receives a dream (a personal event at night, with fireflies) and a guide feather.
- The seven feathers: each feather is in a hard-to-reach place or tied to a rare feat. Examples (the final list follows the opened chapters):
- Feather of the Storm: at the center of the Ilha das Tempestades (Island of Storms) (boat, ring of storms).
- Feather of the Summit: at the top of the Pico do Mundo (World's Peak) (climbing in the cold).
- Feather of the Plateau: on the Planalto Suspenso (Suspended Plateau) (climbing; still without flying).
- Feather of the Abyss: at the bottom of the Abismo de Coral (Coral Abyss) (underwater breathing).
- Feather of the Mist: recover a village swallowed by the Pale Mist (group event).
- Feather of Fire: survive an eruption in the Ermos de Brasa (Ember Wastes).
- Feather of the Moon: on the Ilha da Lua (Moon Island), which only appears at full moon. Each feather demands skill and preparation, not just level, and some demand a party. Feathers are bound to the character and cannot be traded.
- The ritual: with the seven feathers, the player goes to the Mother Tree's altar on a full-moon night. The ritual is an alchemy minigame (
22) with rare ingredients that can be bought from other players with gold (this is where the economy takes part: alchemists and gatherers profit from those on the journey). - Expected time: the full journey takes weeks of play for a dedicated player. Rarity goal: 1% to 3% of active players with wings in the first year after flying is unlocked.
4. The wings grow (three stages)
| Stage | How it is reached | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Young wings | 3 feathers | Glide from high places; reduce fall damage; do not climb |
| Firm wings | 7 feathers + ritual | Short flight: climb with wingbeats, spending stamina; flight of a few minutes, then they must land |
| Wings of the sky | Feats after the ritual (e.g. helping 10 players earn feathers, a complete crossing of the world by air) | Long flight with greater stamina and fast gliding; veteran visual mark |
This gives the player visible progress during the journey (already gliding midway), and keeps full flight rare.
5. When it enters the game
True flight waits for Chapter 6, The Sky (25), when the world is already open and the hard places have already been experienced by land and by sea.
- Before Chapter 6: the journey can begin (feathers from the chapters already open) and young wings already glide. Gliding is safe for the design: it only descends, does not jump over cliffs or reach islands.
- In Chapter 6: the ritual opens, firm wings fly, and the sky (Ilhas Celestes (Celestial Islands), Celéstia) is the first place made for those who fly.
- Feathers from future chapters enter the journey when the chapter opens; those who already have wings lose nothing.
6. Flight limits (so the world keeps its value)
- Stamina: flying spends stamina (
17); without stamina, the wings only glide to the ground. Landing on any high point recovers it. - Altitude ceiling per region; above it the thin air forces a descent (except in the Sky).
- Forbidden zones: cities, dungeons, inside contested zones outside the PvP windows, and the area around each hard place (the Feather of the Plateau still requires climbing; having wings does not excuse the journey of those who do not yet have them).
- Weather: storm, strong wind and the Pale Mist knock down flight (forced glide).
- Load: while flying, you carry only what is in the personal backpack. Caravan cargo, heavy goods and trade items in volume do not fly, so as not to kill ferries, boats, airships and caravans.
- Combat: no weapon or magic is used during sustained flight. One dive attack is allowed on landing. Those in the air can be hit by bows, crossbows and magic from afar and fall gliding if wounded.
- Wounded wings: after falling from damage, the wings are wounded for a few minutes (glide only). On death, the wings come back wounded. They are not lost.
- PvP: arenas without flight. In a contested zone, those who fly show on everyone's map and take extra damage from projectiles (flying is a risky choice, not a guaranteed escape).
7. Wings and flying mounts
Both exist and do not compete:
- Wings: personal, agile, rare, short to medium range, no cargo; they are status.
- Flying mount: more common (high level and expensive to maintain,
10and20), slower to maneuver, carries one passenger and a little more cargo; it is transport.
8. Cosmetics (where the NFT comes in)
- The wings' appearance is customizable: owl feathers, phoenix, night butterfly, bat, blue crystal from Vaelor, wings with fireflies that glow at night (aesthetic of
21). - Appearances can be earned (feats, festivals) or bought as a cosmetic, including NFTs. Rules from
08: purely visual, with the same silhouette size and the same light (nothing that hides or illuminates more). - An appearance only shows on those who already have wings. That is why the wing appearance NFT is desired precisely because wings are rare.
9. First person and VR
Flying in first person is the game's biggest motion-sickness trigger. Rules:
- The camera never rolls: the wings tilt (the player sees the tips in the corner of the view), the horizon stays level.
- Fixed reference: the wing edges and arms are always visible in the peripheral field, like the "cockpit" of flying mounts.
- Comfort vignette proportional to speed and turns; maximum speed limited; smooth accelerations.
- Control in VR: opening the arms opens the wings; tilting the head and arms steers; flapping the arms gives thrust (with a button option for those who play seated or have limited mobility).
- Market reference: Eagle Flight (Ubisoft, 2016) showed that VR flight with head steering and vignette is comfortable for most; use as a starting point and test early.
- On PC: mouse steers, space flaps the wings, a key closes the wings to dive.
- Accessibility option: "assisted flight", which holds altitude automatically.
10. Risks and how they are covered
| Risk | Coverage |
|---|---|
| Flying shrinks the world | Only in Chapter 6; altitude ceiling; forbidden zones; stamina |
| Skipping hard places | Forbidden area around them; the journey requires having gone there by land and sea |
| Killing boats and caravans | No heavy cargo in flight |
| Paying to fly | Not an NFT, not for sale, bound to the character |
| Bots farming wings | No drop; feathers demand feats with skill and party |
| Motion sickness in VR | Camera without rolling, fixed reference, vignette, assisted flight |
| Guaranteed escape in PvP | Visible on the map, extra projectile damage, fall when wounded |
What is left for later
- Final numbers (stamina per minute, speeds, ceiling per region).
- Definitive list of feathers per chapter.
- VR comfort test with a gliding prototype (can enter as an experiment after Phase 1A).
